Photoshoot Concepts by Genre

The following themes are linked to genre-specific forms from which you can select photoshoot concepts. These concepts could involve a workshop, collaboration to build a portfolio, or a private photoshoot.

These forms function the same as the general inquiry form, except that you can choose to see a summary of everyone's responses. The email address is NOT displayed in this summary. Although the name you provide will be shown, the summary does not show each person's individual responses, just a summary of all responses.

Body art involves the model becoming a canvas for the artist. This excludes other forms of art photography such as fine-art nudes in which the body itself is considered the artwork. This theme includes not only material applied to the body, but also includes using the body to display costuming that are themselves artworks.

Conceptual photography is a collection of interesting concepts covering a wide variety of topics that can't otherwise be classified.

Cosplay is a Japanese term that stands for "costume play", and is used to describe dressing up as a fictional comic book, anime, movie, video game, or cartoon character. Cosplay is considered to be a type of performance art, and cosplay photography is the art of capturing that performance. The art of cosplay is the art of replicating or adapting a particular character from popular media.

Fantasy photography is related to cosplay photography in that the model or models are recreating a character; however, unlike cosplay the character is drawn from a theme or genre rather than being a reproduction or reimagining of a specific character.

Light art involves creative use of lighting beyond simple strobes or sunlight. This includes adding colour effects and using alternative lighting sources.

Pinup photography is a photographic style that meant to be "pinned-up" on a wall. Pinup has to do with sexuality and whether the model conveys sex appeal.

Sensual photography is a photographic style featuring intimate, sensual, romantic, and sometimes erotic images of its subjects. The term can be thought of as a type of glamour photography that may have elements of lingerie photography.

Here we use the term sensual photography to cover both boudoir and glamour, the difference being that glamour applies to people who consider themselves to be models and boudoir applies to people who do not consider themselves to be models.
